The EU Global Action on Space is organising the first-ever presentation event of the IRIS² satellite connectivity Programme for African stakeholders.
IRIS² is the latest addition to the EU Space Programme, already incorporating Earth Observation (Copernicus), Navigation (Galileo) and signals enhancement (EGNOS) components. It is set to provide seamless communication capacities to governmental users and businesses through high-speed internet broadband.
On 24 October 2023, representatives from the European Commission, the African Union and the African satellite communications ecosystem will convene at the King Fahd Palace Hôtel in Dakar, Capital of Senegal and westernmost city of mainland Africa, to envision future collaborations between Europe and Africa based on the new IRIS² satellite connectivity programme.
The objective of the event is to underline the importance of cooperation between the EU and Africa in the space domain, as well as to present the opportunities for secure, effective and satellite-based connectivity that can be made available to Africa through the IRIS² programme.
The event aims to foster meaningful discussions and networking opportunities between institutional and industry stakeholders from the EU and African space ecosystems during and after the dedicated sessions. Participants are invited to the closing cocktail that will take place at the end of the event.
The event will be in French and English. It is by invitation only, you can send your application to participate at events-team@eu-global-space.eu.
